Re: NZ Preppers Sites, groups, etc
We stayed with some wwoofing hosts near Paraparaumu for 10 days over xmas/new years. They explained that they would like people to live on their land with them and extended the invitation to us, but the location was wrong and they were still a fair way from being self sustained. It was still a good ...

Re: NZ Preppers Sites, groups, etc
The Collapse doco is quite interesting but I'm not sure I like the style. It's quite dramatic and alarmist. I've shown to a few friends and I get the feeling they didn't take it all that seriously. Guys like Richard Heinberg, Al Bartlett and William R Catton are much better. Having said that there i...

Re: NZ Preppers Sites, groups, etc
My favourite "preppers forum" is the NZ wwoofers website. The reason for this is that many of the hosts live in a self-sufficient/off grid/sustainable way. In other words, just by the way they choose to live they are already well prepared for a shtf situation. They don't have to go anywher...

Re: A must read
Yeah the grim reality of a real shtf situation certainly takes the romance out of it! I get the impression (and I may be wrong) that a good percentage of preppers are looking forward to the day they can skip off somewhere with their bug out bag, eat a couple of cans of baked beans, look at their gol...

Re: NZ Preppers Sites, groups, etc
It's good but there's a doco called Blind Spot which I like better. Has Richard Heinberg, Al Bartlett, William R Catton etc. Anyway back to the topic of sites and forums for preppers in NZ, maybe it would be an idea to create one on facebook. I don't really do facebook these days but back when I was...

Re: Economic disaster
LOL I thought that might happen! See the link referred to the link between economic growth and the use of fossil fuels, not a link to a website.
But here are a couple of links!

Economic disaster
There's been a lot of talk lately about the state of the economy, and for good reason. A lot of the talk though is mindless dribble that leaves most people no wiser for having listened to it. I think a good place to start when talking about the economy is to make sure we all actually know what an &q...

As delicious and nutritious as gold and silver are, I'm opting to buy seeds.

And just one more thing while we are on the subject. If you don't understand EROIE or even know what it is, then this isn't a discussion for you.
